Server and storage
Vimmerby municipality needed help to cope with the tremendous growth of unstructured data and solve their problems with the backup of files and e-mail. We can help you just as we helped them. Read more below.
SCB gained increased security and reduced downtime by mirroring data between two storage halls. Read more below.
Vimmerby Municipality
Background
On Vimmerby municipality had problems with the amount of data on
servers and began considering the introduction of quotas in order
to cope with the increase.
In addition, the increase in stored e-mail was such that they would
be forced to buy a new storage system.
Solution
Caperio installed Symantec Enterprise Vault for email archiving,
where e-mails for administrative staff and students were moved from
expensive to less expensive disk storage. At the same time, all
emails were moved from so-called PST files into the same storage,
so that it now can be accessed in the same way as any other e-mail
in the municipality. They also got a file archiving system where
some files are moved from expensive storage to less expensive and
where unwanted files are not saved at all.
Results
Vimmerby municipality did not have to invest in new central storage
system and gained better control of what is stored on file servers.
In addition storage needs were reduced by about 30% directly and a
further decrease of 10-15% is expected with future regulations.
SCB
Background
At SCB, data volume and availability requirements are high and they
wanted to minimize the time that the system was down for service
management.
Solution
Caperio helped SCB to build another data center with an additional
disk system that mirrors the first centre. This could ensure that
important data is always available.
Results
SCB significantly increased security and availability while the
need for downtime for service management decreased
considerably.
